Lillet Basil Cocktail

This refreshing light apertif based refreshment is the perfect Spring cocktail.  Rising in popularity is Lillet, an interesting French alcoholic drink made from a blend of wine and fruit liqueurs.  We’re going to use the White Lillet in this recipe, and mix it together with touch of orange juice, gin and garnish with basil and cucumber spears.  You’re going to love this sophisticated drink!

Lillet Basil Cocktail

Serves: 1  Prep: 5 min.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup Lillet Blanc (White Lillet)
  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
  • Splash of tonic water
  • 1 cucumber spear, for garnish

Directions: Put ice, Lillet, gin, orange juice and basil in a cocktail shaker, and shake well.

Fill a rocks, or lowball, glass with ice, and strain the mixture into the glass.  Add a splash of tonic water.  Garnish the drink with a cucumber spear and sprig of basil.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Lillet Blanc (White Lillet)
  • 1 cup gin
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup of tonic water
  • cucumber slices, for garnish
  • ice cubes

Directions: Combine Lillet, gin, orange juice, tonic water and basil in a pitcher and stir well.  Chill thoroughly in the refrigerator.  Before serving, add a few cucumber slices to the pitcher for garnish.  Serve over ice in chilled lowball glasses, have a few cucumber slices available for garnish.
